The feature, rolling out on both iOS and Android, enables biometric login methods such as Face ID and fingerprint recognition—making account access more secure and convenient.

Passkeys work by using cryptographic keys that stay on your device, meaning your login credentials aren’t stored or transmitted online.

This reduces the risk of phishing and data breaches, offering a more robust alternative to outdated password-based logins.

Meta announced that once users enable the feature, they’ll be able to manage Passkeys through the “Accounts Center” in their profile settings. The same Passkey will also apply to Messenger when support rolls out in the coming months.

Additionally, Meta plans to integrate Passkey protection with Meta Pay and encrypted message backups.

Other social platforms like X, TikTok, and LinkedIn have already introduced Passkey support, and Facebook is now catching up with the trend.

Given the growing threat of account hacks and digital fraud, this update is a timely and much-needed move.

Importantly, users can still use passwords or other authentication methods if their device doesn’t support Passkeys yet, ensuring flexibility across platforms.

In a world where digital security is more important than ever, Facebook’s move toward password-free logins is a welcome update—and one that’s likely here to stay.
