Tell us a little about yourself, Carina. How did your journey in marketing begin?
I started posting on LinkedIn as a hobby whilst working in translation and ended up getting recruited into marketing full time to build brands for Founders on LinkedIn. I studied German at university and have always been curious about how people connect through language and ideas.
What attracted you to your current role at Lever Brands as a Brand Manager?
I wanted to grow and do work that felt meaningful. Lever gave me the chance to learn fast and work with some of the biggest CEOs and Founders in the world. That kind of experience is rare, and I jumped at it.
Can you share a project or moment that was a turning point in your career?
Honestly, just showing up on LinkedIn changed everything. It helped me build a network, grow confidence and get noticed by the right people. It’s proof that you don’t always need a full plan, just consistency.
What is a typical day as a Brand Manager at Lever Brands?
Every day’s a mix of client chats, strategy sessions, and working with designers to bring things to life.
How do you stay updated with trends and changes in your field?
We have team learning sessions where everyone shares what they’ve seen or tried. It’s casual but super useful and helps us all keep up with what’s happening in the space.
Which tools or platforms do you rely on most in your daily workflow?
Notion helps me keep my brain in order and track everything. Kleo is great for monitoring what posts are performing.
What’s one challenge brand managers often overlook?
Sometimes a client’s topic is so niche that you have to become a mini-expert before you can even start writing. That research takes time, and people don’t always see that part of the job.
Who or what inspires your work?
I love seeing young marketers build their own brand from scratch. Nia Patel and Sophie Millier are two that come to mind. They’re honest, creative and really good at what they do.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone entering the marketing world today?
You don’t need a marketing degree to get started. I didn’t have one. I taught myself a lot and picked things up along the way. It’s never too late to switch things up and try something new.
Outside of work, what’s something you love spending time on?
Girlguiding. I’ve been a weekly volunteer for 8 years now. It’s such a good way to give back, support young girls and be part of something fun and meaningful.
Carina’s story is a reminder that the most impactful careers often start with a simple step like sharing your thoughts online or following a curiosity.
