Selfie

[sel-fee]

Over the years, photography has grown in various forms. Social media added to the diversity of capturing moments. The trend of posting selfies began in 2004 on the photo-sharing website Flickr.

A selfie refers to a self-portrait photograph ideally taken by the front camera of a mobile or webcam. A selfie is a commonly posted photograph on social media platforms and is highly welcomed on Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram. It can either be of an individual or a group of people.  It is easier with a selfie to communicate your true feelings as it instantly reveals who you are and what you are feeling. However, professionals do not recommend selfies as a visual introduction usually.

Example

One of the most famous and shared selfies to date is this selfie shared by the host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres after the Oscar Ceremony 2014, including the world’s most known personalities.
